Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 5, 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how the Crossy iOS application ("Crossy", "we", "our") handles information. Crossy is a crossword app built for iPhone and iPad.
TL;DR
- Crossy uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. We receive a unique Apple user identifier and, if you allow, your name and email.
- Your crossword data (puzzles, progress, settings) is stored locally on your device.
- We do not use third‑party analytics SDKs or advertising SDKs.
- AI features may send your prompts and necessary context to OpenAI for processing; OpenAI's handling and retention are governed by their own policies.
- If you contact us for support, we'll use the information you provide only to help with your request.
Information We Handle
App data on your device
Crossy stores app data on your device using Apple's app storage mechanisms. This may include:
- Saved crosswords and your solving progress
- App preferences and settings
This data is not transmitted to our servers.
Authentication (Sign in with Apple)
Crossy uses Sign in with Apple to authenticate you. When you sign in, Apple provides us with a unique user identifier and, if you permit, your name and email address. We do not store passwords; authentication relies on Apple's identity services.
We store only the minimal identifier needed to keep you signed in on your device. You can revoke Crossy's access from your Apple ID settings at any time.
AI‑powered features (OpenAI)
When you use AI features in Crossy (for example, solving clues), the text you submit and necessary context may be securely transmitted to OpenAI's API for processing.
OpenAI's handling and retention of submitted data are governed by their own policies. We do not control their retention practices and are not responsible for their services.
According to their published policies, OpenAI do not use submitted data to improve their services and do not retain submitted data longer than necessary to process the request and ensure that submitted data does not constitute abuse or policy violations. For more information on their privacy practices, please review their privacy policies.

We do not use your submitted content for our own model training. We do not sell your data.
Support communications
If you choose to contact us (for example, via the Support link on the App Store page), we will receive the information you send (such as your email address and message content) and use it only to respond to your inquiry.
What We Don't Do
- No third‑party analytics SDKs
- No advertising or ad tracking
- No sale or sharing of your personal information
- No collection of sensitive categories of data
Data Retention and Deletion
App data remains on your device until you remove it. To delete app data, you can:
- Uninstall Crossy; or
- Use iOS Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Crossy > Delete App.
Authentication: You can revoke Crossy's access to your Apple ID at any time from iOS Settings > Apple ID > Password & Security > Apps Using Apple ID.
AI features: We do not store your prompts or AI responses on our servers. However, OpenAI may retain submitted data for a limited period in accordance with their policies. See the OpenAI Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
Crossy is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Security
We rely on Apple's platform security and standard iOS protections. While we take reasonable measures, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
